Please read these terms carefully before using SplitWisely. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these requirements. We believe in full transparency — no legal jargon without plain-language explanations.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using SplitWisely ("the App" or "the Service"), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not access or use our services. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.
Plain English: Using SplitWisely means you agree to play fair by these rules. If something changes, we'll let you know.
2. Account Requirements
To use SplitWisely, you must be at least 18 years of age and capable of forming a binding contract. During registration, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. User Conduct
You agree not to use SplitWisely for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage our website, services, or general business. Prohibited behavior includes:
Fraudulent Expenses
Creating false expenses or misleading entries to manipulate group balances.
Harassment
Using the Remind or Message features to harass or threaten other users.
System Abuse
Attempting to reverse engineer, scrape, or hack any part of the platform.
Identity Misuse
Impersonating another person or entity within the platform.
4. Fees & Payments
SplitWisely is currently provided free of charge. We intend to offer an annual software subscription at [ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION PRICE]. If and when paid plans are introduced, the applicable fees, billing terms and renewal terms will be presented to you before you are charged.
Important Notice
Any subscription fee is paid by you to Coderg Technologies for access to the software. That is separate from, and unrelated to, the amounts you and your group members owe each other.
SplitWisely does not hold or transfer users' money. We do not process payments between users. Balances shown in the app are calculations only. Members settle with each other directly using whatever method they choose, and any external service used for that is governed by that provider's own terms and fees.
Currency conversion rates shown in the app are indicative only and may differ from the rates applied by your bank or payment provider.
5. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of SplitWisely and its licensors. All trademarks, service marks, logos, and trade names displayed on our platform are proprietary to SplitWisely.
Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of SplitWisely. Unauthorized use of our intellectual property may violate copyright, trademark, and other laws.
6. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall SplitWisely, its directors, employees, or partners, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
This limitation applies regardless of whether such damages result from your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Service, any conduct or content of any third party using the Service, or unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
Plain English: We work hard to keep things running smoothly, but if something goes wrong due to circumstances outside our control, we can't be held responsible for all resulting losses.
7. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
